In the 1970’s White Sulphur Springs Fire Department started the first ambulance service in Meagher County. The Fireman which was instrumental in this was Kenneth Twitchel. Back in these years it was more of a load and transport to the hospital, only requirement was advance first aid. In the early 1980’s, believed to be 1981, Meagher County Ambulance Service put on its first E.M.T. coarse and split from the City Fire Department. At this time through a Federal Grant the service also purchased their first ambulances which meet all of the federal requirements.

In 1983 Jack Berg went through the training and became an Advance First Aid care giver. In 1984 Jack advanced his training to become a basic       E. M.T. It is believed to be around 1986 Jack Berg gave his first tour as Supervisor of the service , in between a couple others until the early 1990’s, from which time he has had that responsibilities.
