Two Creeks Fire Training
On the 30th of May at approximately 10:30 am, Fire Chief Rick Seidlitz and one of the Assistant Chiefs Jess Secrest gave some of the residents of Two Creeks some fire training on their new fire truck.
Jim Murphy, one of the owners at Two Creeks has been working all winter on receiving a Wildland Fire Truck for the area. This training will give the people basic fire training required to operate the engine, fire Behavior, radio operations and how to fight fire safely.
The engine given to the Two Creeks area is the oldest chassis in the Meagher County Fire Fleet, but the fire box is one of the best for fighting fire. We were unable to clone the radio with the new frequencies so another trip is planned to upgrade the radio. Weather had all but cancelled the training, but at the last minute it was decided to go proceed with it. Due to the last minute training change, we were unable to reschedule with the residents of Castle Bar. On the second trip we will try to coordinate training with them.
Getting Two Creeks on board is great for Meagher County Fire. While we have few fires in this area, the ones we have had have taken fire personnel from White Sulphur Springs over an hour to get there. Once we get the residents in this area up and running, they will be able to respond to the fire a lot quicker, and put it out while the fire is small.
We will continue to work towards getting fire pagers, better communications with the Meagher County 9-1-1 dispatch and fire clothing.
