April 11th 2010 at approximately 11:06 am City Fire was paged by Meagher County 9-1-1 dispatch, to 401 S.W. Fourth Ave for a chimney fire. City Engine 2 with Otto Ohlson and Ken Marks and County Engine 114 with Shane Sereday and Travis Novak responded to the scene. Also at the scene were Sheriff Jon Lopp and County Fire Chief Rick Seidlitz.

The chimney had a large buildup of creosote which had stated on fire. The fire was kept under control and allowed to burn off.

Fire personnel would like to remind residence with wood type furnace to keep your chimney clean. Spring is always a bad time for chimney fires as the furnace is used for several short times throughout the day allowing the creosote to build up in the chimney, then causing a fire.
